Cecil’s Bike Bowl

This is a tribute to Cecil, my father-in-law, an avid cyclist whose passion for biking has spanned decades and countless miles. Even in his 80s, Cecil continues to ride, having journeyed across the country and explored every route imaginable.

For Christmas, I wanted to create something deeply personal for Cecil, reflecting his lifelong dedication to cycling. I visited local bike shops and collected broken bicycle chains and a flywheel that were destined for the scrap heap. Using UV resin, I transformed these discarded chains into a unique, durable bowl that embodies both his passion and the beauty of repurposing.

The bowl is more than just a functional piece; it’s a symbol of Cecil’s adventurous spirit and the stories of every ride he’s taken. It’s a testament to the idea that even what we consider worn-out or broken can be transformed into something beautiful and meaningful.
